Apparently someone’s Uncle Joe decided to drop in for a holiday visit in his sleek and sassy 18-wheeler. Looking on the bright side, he didn’t bring all eighteen wheels, but he brought enough of them.

Notice that this neighborhood, like most in OKC, has no sidewalks. So, imagine an elementary student (school just two blocks away) walking along the left side of the street, against traffic, as a good pedestrian should, and encountering this!

Our imaginary student would then peek around this behemoth’s bodacious bumper to see if there is any oncoming traffic. Hulking in at two feet wider than the average vehicle, this mega-truck certainly does obstruct the view.

For the curious, Oklahoma City Municipal Code, § 32-322 states,

No vehicle which is in excess of seven feet in width, or 24 feet in length, shall be parked on any street in a residential district between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m. except in case of an emergency and for the time necessary to load and unload.

No one hung around to see if Uncle Joe’s truck stayed after dark…

 Safe walking to all.
